Those guys are faster than me

Myriam, Samuel, my mother and I went to Colorado Springs yesterday to have a look around and do a criterium. The weather was great minus the high winds but at this point I think most people will take warm wind over another April snow. The course would have had me smiling in the past, mostly flat with a short steep climb and a fast 180 just after the start finish. After a couple times up the hill I was not smiling, I am not a very good bike racer right now and felt like if we went any faster I may have slipped out of the field. Its funny to me the difference between my mind and my lungs/legs. Like the two previous races I have done this year I knew exactly what I needed to be able to do to make th move and the exact time to do it. The problem is that means stepping off the wheel and riding across to a break which would mean stepping off the wheel, dragging the field halfway across then going out the back. Yesterday I made it to the last lap and was having some hamstring issues so instead of going for the sprint I hit the front with some guys in tow for a lead out, its been I while since I got to smash  myself then swing off at 200 to go and watch the bunch come by single file with gaps at the back. My plan this year was to get just fit enough to help my guys out at the end of the races and I think I will be able to do that with a little more time on the bike.

Dan, You and the little man are looking good! The change in mentality is hard, and I am sure harder at your level, but remember, you are supposed to be having fun! As always, thanks for keeping it real!
